This composition took 390 hours to draw. The setting is Newcastle in 1961, with the castle keep in the background. The Deltic locomotive, "Alycidon", is brand new. I have no photos taken from this perspective, so it took some planning out for trackwork and buildings, as well as the train. The 1A35 route indicator, tells us that it is the 'up' (southbound) "Flying Scotsman" service, AKA the 10am Edinburgh to London.
Hidden in the sky, is a distorted image of race-horse's head (the loco being named after a racehorse). This is an anamorphic image that has to be viewed from a shallow angle from the bottom-right of the drawing, as shown below.
